During the project phase, small groups are taken off for 5 to 10 days to explore the jungle, navigating their way through uncharted rainforest. In Belize for example, there are still areas here with blanks on the map, despite it being a relatively small country.

Trekking is a great way to experience some untouched habitats and wildlife, and to get a greater feel for the region as a whole. You carry everything you need on your back, including food, water and sleeping system, operating as a self sufficient team in the jungle, and is a good chance to practise some more of the skills you learn in jungle training.

Working with local guides, Trekforce Worldwide is able to take you to parts of the country that no other traveller could ever reach on their own. Many of the trekking areas are inaccessible to anyone other than scientists, local communities and the project partners themselves. As you are moving through deep jungle in small groups with knowledgeable guides, it is often easier to spot some of the more elusive wildlife, as you tiptoe through its natural habitat.

Trekking provides a good change of scenery from project site, but can also be an important instrument to help provide information to local organisations about what is happening or is located in the more remote areas of the jungle. Over the years, Trekforce have pioneered many new trek routes; this being at the core of Trekforce's ethos of providing challenging and adventurous experiences.
