Personal Information

James qualified a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away from the University of the West of England, as a nurse. He has diplomas in Tropical Nursing, Travel Medicine and a degree in Emergency Care, alongside a Mountain Leader Certificate.

For the last 9 years he has taught expedition medical skills with Wilderness Medical Training, at home and abroad, and providing advice for several UK based expedition companies. His expedition experience includes post tsunami relief work in Sri Lanka, working in the Jungles of Borneo, Papua New Guinea and Brazil, and in the deserts and mountains of North Africa, sub-Saharan Africa and South America.

When he's not using up his domestic credits on expedition, you'll find him, his wife and children on Dartmoor, enjoying some tranquillity whilst thinking up an excuse for his next trip away.

Personal Information

Sam graduated from King’s College London as a children’s nurse, and also holds a Diploma in Tropical Nursing and has completed a course in high altitude medicine at the National Mountaineering Centre.

Her overseas medical experiences include a Tibetan refugee village in the Indian Himalaya, a surgical centre for landmine casualties in Cambodia and nine months spent as an expedition medic in the jungles of Central America and Papua New Guinea for Trekforce.

She practices yoga, reiki and Indian head massage, frequently loses very badly at squash and is a keen rock-climber, creative cook and photographer. Sam is also passionate about conservation, humanitarianism and her family, friends and partner in crime!

Personal Information

Nicola qualified as a doctor in 1998 with a degree from Newcastle University. Since 2003, she has been working as a GP in Northumberland and has regularly joined Trekforce on both gap year expeditions and television expeditions, all across the globe. Away from work, Nicola enjoys swimming and is a keen walker, taking advantage of the amazing scenery of Northumberland.

Personal Information

Dr Olly has a background in anaesthesia and emergency medicine. He has spent some time as a Doctor with the military where he was deployed to the Far East, Middle East and Africa.

He has also travelled extensively as an independent traveller. He has practiced medicine in both hot and cold, humid and dry environments and is not shy to working out of the back of a rucksack.

Personal Information

Having developed an interest in pre-hospital care and expedition work during her endless years at medical school, Amy decided to act on it and become involved at an early stage of her career. As well as completing hospital training in emergency medicine, paediatrics, general surgery and intensive care, Amy has also circled the skies of New Zealand with the Taranaki Rescue Helicopter, spent 2 months in a remote part of Madagascar on a conservation diving expedition, explored the Belizean Jungle with Jack Osbourne, and been engulfed in mud in the Borneo jungle whilst assisting Carphone Warehouse in their corporate challenge.

Amy has completed a postgraduate diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene at The Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and is currently part way through a year rotation in Emergency Medicine and Intensive Care at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, but has just managed to squeeze in a 10 day trek to China during her annual leave...
