A significant proportion of the population lives below the poverty line, and the region is under threat as the majority of income comes from the unsustainable natural resources: crude oil and timber. While tourism is presently in its infancy, it is and will be of increasing importance.
Based in the Kelabit highlands, we will be working on conservation and community based projects, having contact with the friendly and welcoming indigenous Kelabit people. We will be working on vital infrastructure and conservation projects that promote eco-tourism and sustainable conservation of the local forests within the Kelabit Highlands so as to provide an alternative and sustainable income that does not damage the environment.
We produce a project report of our conservation work at the end of each year. If you would like a copy of this then call us on 0845 241 3085 or download a copy from our website.
