Search and Rescue Procedures

It is important to be prepared for the unlikely event of being lost or separated to know what actions to take. The buddy system is the first defence against anyone getting lost and the first alarm system to be activated if someone does get lost. If an individual or small group becomes separated from the main group, the leader will carry out an organised search with the rest of the group. At the same time, the lost party can help themselves by carrying out the self-rescue techniques they have been taught.
