Machetes and Parangs

In every jungle environment around the world the local people endemic to that area will always be proficient with some form of parang (SE Asia), Cutlass (Guyana) or Machete (Central America). It is essential for survival to be in possession of a good blade that can be kept sharp.

For that reason, every member of a Trekforce jungle expedition is issued with a machete, which is carried on the belt kit at all times. Your machete is the singularly most useful thing you can have with you in the jungle and must be maintained and handled with respect.
