Fauna and Flora are typically seen as the largest or most sinister threat in the jungle environment. In terms of statistics there are larger threats to expeditions such as the drinking of dirty water or deadfall but these tend to be overshadowed by our inbuilt fears of infamous animals and plants
Whilst it is important to be aware of, and recognise, certain hazards, the risks posed by jungle flora and fauna are low. Anywhere you go there are environmental hazards and the first time you enter a new environment it can seem a very dangerous place. Imagine a tribesman from a remote part of Borneo trying to get across London without getting flattened by a double decker bus! Your first few days in the jungle will be very carefully watched and this is when you will learn about the environmental hazards for the type of jungle you are in.
