All of our projects are conservation driven. You could be working on low key but sustainable conservation and eco-tourism projects in the Kanuku Moutains, North Rupunnuni or Pakaraima Mountains. There are a number of rainforest lodges, but the tourism trade to them is small, mainly due to a lack of knowledge about Guyana, and the lack of communication links and infrastructure within the country.
The Guyanese government recognises the country's assets and is keen to raise its profile and develop eco-tourism into one of the largest industries in the coming years. Plans are already afoot to facilitate this through the provision of appropriate infrastructure and communications in a sustainable and responsible manner.
Given the vast area of almost undiscovered rainforest and savannah within Guyana, the potential for projects is huge. Combined with an increasingly active environmental stance from the government and the likes of IWOKRAMA, Conservation International, Kaieteur National Park and Shell Beach, there is also widespread desire to commence such projects. This will continue to increase as more areas come under protected status.
We produce a project report of our conservation work at the end of each year. If you would like a copy of this then call us on 0845 241 3085 or download it from our website.
