Experience the Jungle

Having initially come from the jungle, it is not an adverse place for people to live in relative comfort. Trekforce has years of experience operating safely in the jungle environments, and our expeditions are unique for living solidly in the jungle for an extended period of time.

Washing in a waterfall in the jungle

It will become the most amazing home you have ever lived in - having a wash at the local river, sleeping in a hammock between two trees, cooking on a camp fire and working on a worthwhile project intimate to rainforest conservation and the wider world.

Isn't it scary?

Not at all. It's a shame that most people's experience of the jungles around the world are through television programmes that try to highlight the weird and the wonderful, whilst primarily focussing on the inhospitable conditions and dangerous creatures. Combined with other "survival type" shows and books, the jungle is classed amongst other hostile environments such as the desert and the arctic. However, an environment is only hostile if you are not fully prepared for it.

Walking in the Chiquibul National Park

A lot of people's jungle experience is only for a few days. It's unfortunate as this is only enough time to experience the heat, humidity and mosquitoes, and this can put people off. One of the single biggest fears of people entering the jungle is snakes and creepy crawlies. People moving through the jungle are generally so noisy, that any snakes have long since departed and nothing will go for you unless unnecessarily provoked. Staying put for a longer amount of time enables you to adapt to the environment and see the rainforest as a haven for life, surely the best jungle experience.

What is the jungle?

The fascinating jungle

The jungle typically refers to dense forest in hot climates, mainly meaning tropical rainforest. The jungles of the world are a huge theatre of life on earth. Whilst only covering 6% of the earth's landmass, they include over half of the world's plants and animals. Trekforce operates in some of the most amazing jungle environments on the planet to help conserve this plethora of biodiversity, and in the shadow of climate change, the forests are a vitally important 'carbon sink'.

The jungle is a fascinating and beautiful place and a experiencing a remote area of jungle for an extended period of time is essentially the most unique part of a Trekforce jungle expedition.
