Trekforce Worldwide - Gap Year, Career Break and Extreme Expeditions

Retention and Reward

With many industries struggling to recruit graduates, fringe benefits are becoming a vital way to tempt high caliber candidates away from the competition. In addition it is clear that to retain staff, companies are increasingly offering worthwhile and sustainable experiences. The benefit of a project-based charity challenge or CSR project with Trekforce Worldwide allows your staff to develop vital team-work and communication skills whilst doing something extremely valuable for the global environment.

Trekforce Worldwide can tailor bespoke CSR projects and challenging expeditions to meet your company objectives. The key element is that staff work together to complete a worthwhile, sustainable conservation project, that will benefit the host country or community. Whether you want to design a bespoke expedition in a particular part of the world in order to develop teamwork or work on a worthwhile and sustainable conservation or community project, Trekforce Worldwide can meet your requirements.

Reward: Project or Trek?

Increasingly it is being recognised that employees benefit from a career break or some worthwhile time spent overseas. Factoring this in to an HR or CSR strategy can make all the difference in motivating a workforce. TFW can draw up a bespoke package lasting anything from 7 - 14 days. This could also be integrated into a corporate team building programme.

The key questions is whether you want to just organise a trek or combine it with a project that makes a difference. Alternatively you may want to work purely on a stand alone project.

Teamwork & CSR

Trekforce Worldwide use valuable project work as a vehicle for personal and group development. Groups of between 12 and 30 people live and work together for a period of time on projects which contribute to the preservation of the environment and ultimately benefit the host country.

Employee Perspective

".....most importantly for me was seeing just how much the whole trip affected everyone who took part, it has been described as ‘life changing’ by so many people, it has broken down barriers across the company as it has brought together people from stores, call centres and the head offices, the buzz that is going round is incredible and the e-mail banter flying back and forth reflects how much of a team was created in just one week. I am getting feedback from people who weren’t even on the trip - showing just how much it is being talked about and praised."
Becky Maynard, CSR Manager, The Carphone Warehouse

"...the group spirit we had created, that was the best thing about the expedition!"
Daniel Davies, expedition to Sabah, East Malaysian Borneo

"The Borneo project was probably the most demanding 10 days of my life, both physically and mentally. After an intensive period of travel, and with little time to acclimatise, we were pushed to our limits without knowing what was ahead of us. This made the experience all the more rewarding, as we pulled together as a tight knit group under the expert leadership and direction of all the Trekforce staff and volunteers.

The were many personal achievements, but the thing which I will remember for a long time how quickly a group of relative strangers gelled and begun working together to achieve the goals. This was all facilitated by a fantastic group of Trekforce expedition leaders, assistants and medics, bringing together a group with varying skills, abilities and physical capabilities."
Adam, Carphone employee

"If someone had told me beforehand that I’d be swimming through anaconda rivers in the middle of the night, canoeing down rivers and falling in at rapids and having to be rescued, walking through tree tops over 130ft high (I hate heights) and wading through swamps and drinking  river water to survive I wouldn’t of gone!

I feel as though all my confidence has been stripped away over the last couple of years, but has been put back together again during the course of this trip, people’s kindness, great laughs, physical action and just being able to be myself and achieving.

I feel so proud today, I’ve realised that people like me for who I am, not what I look like, I can do the most amazing physical things if I put my mind to it and most importantly, other women that are currently going through the same thing as me will realize that you do get better and you can do anything you put your mind to."

"Since Trekforce, I am now a more ambitious person."
