La Ruta Maya Belize River Challenge

La Ruta Maya Belize River Challenge is an exhilarating 4 day, 179 mile canoe race (flat water) down the Belize River from San Ignacio to Belize City, held around the second week in March.

Prior to La Ruta Maya, there is a 4-day period of canoe training to enable our volunteers with key skills for the race.

Trekforce have entered teams for the for the last few years in the pleasure craft category with canoes kindly loaned from BATSUB.

Finishing La Ruta Maya is an astonishing achievement. It is a true test of mental strength and determination, much more than the physical side, and Trekforce volunteers always see it as a true highlight to their experience.
